Sacraments

One of the distinguishing features of being Catholic is our sacraments, which celebrate the mystery of God’s action in our lives and in the world in a rich, symbolic way.  As a faith community, we take preparation for sacraments very seriously.  Any individual considering participation in a sacramental preparation program must be a registered and participating member of the parish for a minimum of three months.

Sacraments of Initiation

Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated several times a year.  Adults are baptized at the Easter Vigil, while infants are baptized throughout the year.  Adults wishing to be baptized must participate in the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).  For more information, please contact Father Marc Hopps by e-mail or call him at the Office in the Parish Center, 989.662.6861.

Infant baptisms are celebrated at the weekend liturgies on the second weekend of the month, except during Lent.  At least one of the child's parents must be a registered, participating member of the parish.  Parents are required to attend a preparation class prior to the baptism.  Attending class during pregnancy is encouraged. For more information, please contact Kelly Lawrence, Faith Formation Coordinator, by e-mail or call her at 989.662.6861 at the Parish Center.

Reconciliation and First Eucharist

Baptized children of our Parish, who have received instruction in the Catholic Faith, may join a class to prepare for Reconciliation and First Communion.  The class typically begins in December to early January, with celebration taking place during the Easter season.  Eligibility to participate in the Sacramental programs is dependent upon the following factors:
- must be registered parishioner with evidence of family participation at weekend liturgies
- current enrollment in Parish-sponsored religious education program or Auburn Area Catholic School
- participation in a religious education program the previous year
- family participation in various church ministries including financial stewardship
- commitment to church attendance after reception of first-time sacrament
For more information and to register for a class, please contact Kelly Lawrence, Faith Formation Coordinator, by e-mail or by calling 989.662.6861 at the Parish Center.

Sacrament of Healing

Anointing of the Sick
Communal Anointing of the Sick is celebrated yearly in the Fall.  Individual anointing is year-round by appointment.  Please call 989.662.6861.  We encourage parishioners to notify the Parish when experiencing serious illness, accident, or hospitalization.

Sacraments of Service

Marc Hopps.
