Weekly Scripture Study
Scripture Study occurs each Tuesday, during the school year, at 10:00 AM at the Parish Center. A variety of learning experiences are offered: viewing a professionally produced DVD, sharing our personal experiences, and praying for the needs of our families, friends and parish. Online Learning
Learning more about the faith doesn't have to mean finding time to attend classes at a nearby Catholic college or traveling to conferences! The Church is blessed with plenty of online programs where you can work at your own pace and find the enrichment that best fits your needs. Below are just a few ways that you can discover more about our Catholic faith!
The Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation - Dayton, OH - VLCFF.udayton.edu/ Programs Offered: Certificates in catechesis, adult formation leadership, social justice, Marianist studies, foundations for leadership in ministry, youth ministry, and special needs. Description: The Institute for Pastoral Initiatives at the University of Dayton coordinates and sponsors the VLCFF. The VLCFF does not certify one for a particular ministry. Catholic Distance University - Hamilton, VA - CDU.edu Programs Offered: Undergraduate and graduate degrees; certificates Description: Continuing education certificates are available in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, basic catechetics, advanced catechetics, Vatican II, Church history, sacred Scripture, and a Catholic approach to medicine. Christendom College - Front Royal, VA - Christendom.edu/academics/graduate-catechist-certification.php Programs Offered: Catechist certification that is approved by several dioceses Description: Two semester-long video-based courses. The first course covers the sections of the catechism about the creed and prayer. The second course focuses on the sacraments and moral life. Both courses include scriptural references that support the faith, ways to communicate the faith to various ages, and the relation of catechesis to the New Evangelization. Contact: 800-877-5456
