The work of Christ is continued in the Church through the Body of Christ. As baptized and confirmed Christians, we have been given gifts and are called, by Christ, to continue His work of salvation and transformation of the world. When lay people carry out Christ’s work as priest, prophet and king in public activity authorized by the Church, this is lay ministry.
Lay Ministry is a Diocesan Ministry which provides formation of lay people for fulfillment of their baptismal call to build the Kingdom of God in meeting the needs of the Parish, the Church, and the world. It is a four-year formation process which consists of two years of monthly weekend seminars and an additional two years of internship. Seminars include Scripture, core theological topics, an introduction to pastoral skills, spiritual formation and ministry supervision. Please contact Fr. Marc Hopps if you are interested in learning more about this ministry. You may e-mail him or reach him through the Parish Office at 989.662.6861 Criteria for Applying: You must be a person of faith, have a recommendation from a Pastor, and understand that lay ministry is a vocation.
