My name is Katie Mocny and I started teaching
Kindergarten and 1st grade at Auburn Area Catholic School in
2010. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development and a
Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, both from Siena
Heights University. Prior to joining Auburn Area Catholic
Schools, I taught 4 years of 3rd grade in Britton-Macon and
7 years of 1st and 2nd grade at St. Helen’s in Saginaw. I
believe that learning should be fun and hands on. I use
many different learning styles so that I am sure all
children are being challenged. What I enjoy most about
teaching is watching the kids grow and learn each day. It
is amazing when they have that “ah-ha” moment. I live in
Vassar with my husband, Ed, son and daughter. We also have
2 fish and a rabbit. We attend St. Elizabeth’s Church in
Reese. In my spare time I love to scrapbook, which keeps me
busy. I am an avid reader, my favorite authors are Debbie
Macomber and Catherine Coulter. I spend many nights at ball
games as my son is involved in football, basketball, track,
and all-school play. |
